Health Care Assistant

Our Client is searching for Health Care Assistants (HCA) provides essential personal care and support to individuals who need help with daily living due to age, illness, disability, or mental health needs. HCAs work under the guidance of senior care staff and follow individual care plans to promote dignity, independence, and wellbeing.


1. Health Care Assistant – Domiciliary Care

Multiple Locations

Service users’ own homes (community-based role)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, and continence care

  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and use of aids

  • Prepare and support with meals and hydration

  • Support with medication (where trained and authorised)

  • Assist with light household tasks (cleaning, laundry, shopping)

  • Provide companionship and emotional support

  • Promote independence and dignity at all times

  • Observe and report changes in health or behaviour

  • Maintain accurate care records and daily notes

  • Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and infection control procedures

Requirements

  • No formal qualifications required (training provided)

  • Willingness to work flexible hours (including evenings/weekends)

  • Full UK driving licence preferred (depending on area)

  • Enhanced DBS check

  • Compassionate, reliable, and patient

2. Health Care Assistant – Care Home

Multiple Locations

Residential or nursing care home

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personal care to residents in line with care plans

  • Support residents with daily routines and activities

  • Assist with feeding and nutrition monitoring

  • Take and record basic observations (temperature, pulse, BP – if trained)

  • Support residents with mobility and repositioning

  • Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards

  • Support residents’ emotional and social wellbeing

  • Communicate effectively with nurses, senior carers, and families

  • Accurately complete care documentation and handovers

  • Follow CQC standards, safeguarding, and company policies

Requirements

  • Previous care experience preferred but not essential

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards)

  • Enhanced DBS check

  • Ability to work shifts including nights, weekends, and bank holidays
